Apple Improves The Mouse
The mouse has long been the most loved, easiest and most convenient interface between users and computers – and has been pretty much since computers were first shipped out. And now Apple have tweaked the mouse further, into something that’s both simpler and more useful.
The Magic Mouse (they’re not always great with naming, it would seem) looks like one of the most interesting, and just plain awesome computer mice ever designed. Apple’s older mice, despite looking absolutely beautiful, were definitely a case of form over function – they were harder to use than they should have been, and the trackball wheel was dreadful and would frequently break.
But look at the Magic Mouse – just look at it. It’s wireless, there’s no trackball, there’s no…buttons. Kind of.
Unlike Microsoft’s approach of adding as many buttons as it possibly can onto it’s mice, Apple’s new mouse is just one big trackpad – you can click anywhere on the mouse to simulate a normal click, and it thankfully lets you right click too by clicking the top, right-hand corner. Best of all though, it supports multi-touch gestures on the shell of the mouse. Awesome.
They’re out now, and available on Apple’s site for £55.
