Apple MacBook 13″
The 13 inch Apple MacBook is widely regarded as one of the best laptops for students. It’s easy to take to lectures because of it’s ultra-portable size, it’s battery life is excellent and Mac software is easily compatible with regular PCs when it comes to using spreadsheets and documents (you can even get Microsoft Office for Mac). Plus it looks awesome.
Just look at it.
It comes with 2 GB of RAM (which you can double if you pay an extra £80) and a minimum of a 160 GB hard-drive, which is more than capable of holding all your music, films and work (unless you have a film library, in which case you can upgrade to a maximum 500 GB hard-drive for an extra £160 – or you could invest in a portable hard-drive).
Like Apple’s other line of MacBooks, the 13 inch has some nice extra features that you wouldn’t normally expect, including a MagSafe adapter so that the power cord comes out automatically if you accidentally trip over it, preventing your MacBook from slamming into the ground after you.
While it’s not designed for games, it is more than capable of running some of the more graphically intensive ones (even Call of Duty), which is in large part down to it’s NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. It’s a brilliant little laptop for chucking in your bag and heading out, great to take to class, to the library (or anywhere) and runs excellently. It’s an excellent performer, has a great, crisp screen and, in truth, is difficult to fault. If you’re after a MacBook that’s ultra-portable, it’s worth considering the MacBook Air – but if you’re a student and looking for a new laptop, or just looking for a laptop that’s easy to take with you, the 13 inch MacBook comes highly recommended.
